FAQs
I don’t live within Islington, can I still attend?
Absolutely, we welcome all boxers regardless of where you are from.
Is Metrobox London free to train at?
It’s completely free!
I’m really unfit and have never boxed before, I’m not sure if I should come?
Our promise is that we will support you in becoming the best version of yourself, regardless of your starting point. Don’t be nervous if you aren’t as fit as you would like to be, or don’t know how to box – that’s exactly what we are here for!
Is there sparring at Metrobox London?
There are regular sparring sessions in both our senior and 16-24 classes, for those who would like to take part. Sparring is overseen by the watchful eye of an experienced coach, who will make sure you are safe and receiving the best experience possible. All sparring takes place within our boxing ring, with 14oz gloves and headgear.
I want to have bouts and enter competitions, is Metrobox London the gym for me?
100%. Providing new challenges and opportunities for our top boxers is a priority to us. Once restrictions permit us to; we will have a busy year of dinner shows, hall shows and competitions to keep our boxers focused and progressing.
What should I bring to my first session?
All you will need is trainers, training clothes and a bottle of water. So that you can participate in partner drills, we recommend you bring a gumshield and hand wraps. The rest, we can provide for you!
Do you provide a session for special educational needs and disability (SEND) boxers?
Whilst we plan to create SEND boxing sessions in the future, it is not something we currently have the facilities to cater for. If you have links to a SEND school or extra curricula group, please get in touch with us at info@metroboxlondon.co.uk - we are interested in providing boxing programs within your school or provision, to ensure we are inclusive to everyone in our local community.
I’m interested in volunteering as a coach at Metrobox London, how can I get involved?
Drop us an email at info@metroboxlondon.co.uk with your contact details and any relevant experience. One of our coaches will be in touch with how you can join the team! If you have DBS vetting in place that’s ideal, otherwise we will support you in this process.
